Lymphatic Treatment for Women Healing from Surgery
Gentle lymphatic care, scar care, and calming support to help reduce swelling and support comfort after a C-section, breast cancer treatment, or cosmetic surgery.
You've just been through surgery, and now your body feels different — puffy, tight, tender, or simply not like yours. I'm Kristin Edwards, and I created Key Lymphatics for exactly this moment. Here, your body is listened to, never rushed. Each session is shaped around your surgery, your healing, and what you need that day.
What is lymphatic treatment, and why does it matter after surgery?
Your lymphatic system is your body's quiet housekeeper. It clears extra fluid and supports your immune system. Surgery, scars, and radiation can slow it down, and that's one reason swelling, heaviness, and tightness can linger.
Lymphatic drainage uses slow, light, rhythmic touch to encourage that natural movement, helping reduce swelling and ease that full, tight feeling. I pair it with gentle scar work and, when appropriate, microcurrent — so your nervous system can settle and your body can do what it already knows how to do.
After a C-section: for the mom with the "shelf"
You gave so much to bring your baby into the world, and now you may be looking down at a belly that doesn't feel like yours. Many moms describe a "shelf" — a soft roll or overhang above the scar — along with numbness, tingling, a pulling or "stuck" feeling, or tenderness when clothes touch the area. You're not imagining it, and you're not alone.
Gentle lymphatic care and scar care can help reduce swelling, ease tightness, and support the tissue and nervous system around a healed C-section incision. It's not too late, either — I work with moms whose babies arrived last month and moms whose babies are now grown.
You might be a good fit if you:
- Have a "shelf" or overhang above your C-section scar
- Feel tightness, numbness, or sensitivity around the scar
- Feel pulling or restriction in your lower belly or hips
- Want a gentle, unhurried place to be cared for after birth
I can't promise how your body will respond or that a shelf will change, but I can help you feel supported and more comfortable. Sessions begin with your provider's clearance and once your incision has healed.

Breast cancer treatment recovery — with gentleness and respect
You've carried so much. After lumpectomy, mastectomy, lymph node removal, reconstruction, or radiation, many women notice swelling, a tight scar, a guarded shoulder or chest, and a heavy, achy feeling that doesn't fully go away. If you also live with lipedema — or have been told you may — you may know the tenderness and heaviness in the legs and hips that comes with it, and how tiring it is to manage on top of recovery.
Here, you can rest. My lymphatic care is slow, light, and adapted to you. It's designed to help reduce swelling, ease scar and chest tightness, and support comfort. I review your treatment history first and adapt — or postpone — techniques based on where you are, and I always work alongside your medical team.
Please know: I don't diagnose lipedema or lymphedema, and this isn't a replacement for care from your doctor or a certified lymphedema therapist. If you have diagnosed or suspected lymphedema, please stay connected with your medical team. My work is supportive, gentle, and meant to be one more kind thing in your corner.

Tummy tuck, mommy makeover, lipo & BBL recovery
You chose this surgery for yourself, and you deserve a recovery that supports it. Swelling, firmness, tight incisions, and fluid are a normal part of healing after a tummy tuck, mommy makeover, liposuction, BBL, breast surgery, or skin removal after major weight loss (including GLP-1 patients). Gentle lymphatic care can help reduce swelling, ease tightness and firm areas, and keep you comfortable while your body does its work.
Timing: Most clients begin within 1–2 weeks after surgery, with surgeon clearance. Scar work begins once incisions are closed.
Before surgery: A pre-op session lets us plan your recovery together so your first visit after surgery is ready when your surgeon says go.
Programs: Cosmetic surgery recovery programs are described on the Recovery Programs page — Recovery Essentials, Complete Recovery, and Extended Skin Removal Recovery.
Every surgeon and every body is different, so I follow your surgeon's post-op guidelines at every step and can't promise a specific result — but I can help your recovery feel calmer and more supported.

What to expect at your first visit
A thorough conversation.
We talk through your surgery, your health history, and what you're hoping for before anything else. Your first session includes a full intake.
A calm start.
Every session begins by gently settling your nervous system — sometimes with microcurrent, a very light, low-level stimulation most people barely feel. I'll always tell you what I'm using and why.
Gentle, hands-on care.
Lymphatic drainage, scar tissue work, and microcurrent are layered in the order that serves you best.
Always your choice.
You're in charge of the session. Tell me to slow down, lighten up, or stop at any time.
A plan that fits.
We'll talk about how often to come based on your surgery and how your body responds. Some clients come weekly or twice weekly during active recovery; others come monthly.

Meet Kristin
I've practiced bodywork since 2008, when I graduated from massage therapy school and trained in neuromuscular therapy and lymphatic drainage. I began studying microcurrent a few years later and, after moving back to Minnesota in 2016, started working with women healing from C-sections, cosmetic surgery, mastectomy, and radiation.
Session after session, I saw the same patterns — guarded tissue, scar restriction, and a lymphatic system that needed gentle encouragement — and out of that came the Key Lymphatics method: Reset. Release. Flow. I built it for women like you: moms, survivors, and women who finally did something for themselves. You don't have to heal alone.
